Creating or Controlling a GPO in AGPM

A Group Policy Object (GPO) must first be under the management of Advanced Group Policy Management (AGPM) in order to use AGPM to offer change control. The Change Control folder will automatically control any new GPOs that are generated through it. Although you might not have the authority to finish controlling, creating, or deleting a GPO as an Editor, you do have the authority necessary to start the procedure and submit your request to an Approver.

Request Control of an Uncontrolled GPO

An existing Group Policy object (GPO) must be managed in order to enable change control. You must ask for the GPO to be controlled unless you are an Approver or AGPM Administrator (Full Control). This operation may only be carried out by a user account that has the Editor or Reviewer role or the requisite permissions in Advanced Group Policy Management (AGPM). Review the information in “Additional considerations” under this heading.

Request Control of an Uncontrolled GPO

A Group Policy Object (GPO) must be managed in order to enable change control for an existing GPO. You must request that the GPO be managed if you’re not an Approver or an AGPM Administrator (Full Control). To carry out this method, you must have a user account with the Editor or Reviewer role or the requisite permissions in Advanced Group Policy Management (AGPM). Take a look at the information in “Additional considerations” in this topic.

To control an uncontrolled GPO

  1. In the Group Policy Management Console tree, click Change Control in the forest and domain in which you want to manage GPOs.
  2. On the Contents tab in the details pane, click the Uncontrolled tab to display the uncontrolled GPOs.
  3. Right-click the GPO to be controlled with AGPM, and then click Control.
  4. Unless you have special permission to control GPOs, you must submit a request for control. To receive a copy of the request, type your e-mail address in the Cc field. Type a comment to be displayed in the History of the GPO, and then click Submit.
  5. When the Progress window indicates that overall progress is complete, click Close. The GPO is removed from the list on the Uncontrolled tab and added to the Pending tab. When an Approver has approved your request, the GPO will be moved to the Controlled tab.

So, that’s all in this blog. I will meet you soon with next stuff .Have a nice day !!!
