Roll Back to an Earlier Version of a GPO

Hello All,

Hope this post finds you in good health and spirit.

Roll Back the GPO changes to an Earlier Version of a GPO

By deploying an older version of the Group Policy Object (GPO), an Approver can restore changes made to a GPO. The GPO version that is currently in production is overwritten when an older version of the GPO is deployed.

To execute this operation, you must have a user account with the Approver or AGPM Administrator (Full Control) role or the relevant permissions in Advanced Group Policy Management (AGPM).

To deploy an earlier version of a GPO to the production environment of the domain

  1. In the Group Policy Management Console tree, click Change Control in the forest and domain in which you want to manage GPOs.
  2. On the Contents tab, click the Controlled tab to display the controlled GPOs.
  3. Double-click the GPO to be deployed to display its History.
  4. Right-click the version to be deployed, click Deploy, and then click Yes.
  5. When the Progress window indicates that overall progress is complete, click Close. In the History window, click Close.

Note Analyze a difference report for the two versions to confirm that the version that has been redeployed matches to the version requested. Highlight the two versions in the GPO’s History pane, then use the right-click menu to choose Difference and either HTML Report or XML Report.

To perform this operation, you must by default be an Approver or an AGPM Administrator (Full Control). You specifically need to have the GPO’s List Contents and Deploy GPO permissions.

So, that’s all in this blog. I will meet you soon with next stuff .Have a nice day !!!
